Digital advertising Definition

Digital advertising is also called as Internet advertising which holds internet technologies to deliver promotional advertisements to the consumers that are delivered through email, social media websites, advertising on search engines, banner ads on mobile or Web sites, affiliates programs etc. Basically, it refers to the marketing media which is digitally displayed. Usually, this advertising technology exists on the internet, on smartphones, handheld media devices, automobiles, billboards etc.

There are many examples of digital advertising such as:

Electronic billboards: These are the digital version of traditional billboard advertisements which display a variety of digital advertising messages. These are cost-effective and flexible in nature.

Web-based marketing: The main aim of this advertising is that it targets Internet users while they visit the websites, as a result, the pop-up advertisements appear as a new window and display an advertising message for a product or service which is related to the original website. Another form of digital web-based advertising is video advertisement.

Viral marketing: It is one of the forms of digital advertising businesses which are used to spread the word about their brand. With the help of this advertising, the advertising messages are spread digitally through email and other online media.

Audio Advertising: Audio advertising targets consumers through Podcasts, Internet radio and lives streaming digital radio.  Podcasts are digital audio files such as an MP3 in which the users download to a computer or personal media player.
