Hyper Text markup language (HTML) is a language used in creating web pages. HTML is also known as a set of mark up codes that are placed in a file and are intended for display on a World Wide Web browser page. In HTML each markup code is known as an element or a tag. Some elements exist in pairs and are indicative of the beginning and end. In HTML "Hypertext" refers to the hyperlinks that a page may contain, while "Markup language" refers to the way tags are used to define the page layout and elements within the page. Each individual markup code is referred to as an element.

HTML is used widely and is supported by every browser. It is easy to learn and use and comes along with the windows software, thus saving the cost of buying the software.

History of HTML

Hyper Text markup language is the representative language of the World Wide Web and was first envisioned in 1990. It is a bi-product of SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) which is an intricate, technological specification describing markup languages, particularly those used in electronic document exchange, document management, and document publishing. HTML was initially created to authorize those who were not expert in SGML to publish and swap scientific and other technological documents. HTML particularly facilitated this exchange by incorporating the ability to link documents electronically using hyperlinks. Thus the name Hypertext Markup Language.

Although it was promptly realized by those remote to the discipline of scientific documentation that HTML was comparatively simple to learn. It was independent and lent itself to a variety of other applications. With the development of the World Wide Web, HTML started to propagate and quickly spread into the mainstream.

HTML is a rapidly used software application. Due to the simplicity and effortlessness employed in the learning of it is among the most trending software of today.
